Cleator Moor Priorities

  • # YOU SAID - Anti Social Behaviour in Frizington
Issue was set on Saturday, June 24
    • WE DID {ACTIVE PRIORITY} Tackle anti social behaviour in Cleator Moor and Frizington areas. *We are addressing youth disorder in and around Cleator Moor town centre and the Market Square. We are conducting dedicated foot patrol by PCSOs and backed up with enforcement from Police response teams from Whitehaven. We are working with local housing providers to ensure families control children who are acting in an anti social manner. We will use acceptable behaviour contracts and all other tools to combat ASB in the long term. We encourage the public to report incidents of ASB on 101 or via 999 if a crime is in progress.
    • Following working with partner agencies there has been a significant reduction in reported antisocial behaviour in Cleator Moor Market Square. Those identified have been robustly dealt with and have not reoffended to date.
    • *Following complaints regarding ASB in Frizington we have worked with housing and have served tenancy warnings to seven households responsible. Three Acceptable Behaviour contracts have been issued and monitored through the prevent and deter system. We have held meetings with private landlords to address ASB caused by their tenants and as a result one tenancy has terminated with others being monitored.
    • Joint Agency walkabouts with Cumbria Constabulary and Home Group have been conducted to increase visibility, provide reassurance and to provide a point for persons to report matters. The joint agency work has concluded with one individual being served with a community protection notice. The main culprits have been dealt with and the ASB has significantly reduced. One individual remains an issue and is subject to ongoing work between police and partner agencies.
    • +++We are aware of ASB in Frizington but it is being greatly under reported which is impacting on our ability to effectively deal with those responsible. We urge members of the public to report non-urgent matters via 101 or 101@cumbria.police.uk and in an emergency or if a crime is in progress then on 999. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111+++
