Coniston Area Priorities

  • Underage Drinking in Ulverston and the surrounding area.
    Issue was set on Wednesday, September 27
    • The Issue: Residents have raised concerns about underage consumption of alcohol in Ulverston and surrounding villages What we are doing: We have increased the frequency of patrols on these areas particularly on evenings that have been historically identified as generating calls for service and together with staff from Barrow and with BTP assistance will be monitoring rail and bus arrivals. Carrying out test purchasing operations together with Trading Standards to prevent youths buying alcohol. We will Deal with youths using the Its Your Choice system and progressing to Acceptable Behavior Contracts as required. Seizing and destroying alcohol under the Confiscation of Alcohol (Young Persons) Act 1997. Prosecute offenders for Criminal Damage.

  • Youths Causing ASB in area of Hartleys Brewery and Hart Street
    Issue was set on Thursday, July 20
    • The Issue: Youths entering the derelict brewery and causing damage and placing themselves at risk. What we are doing: We have increased the frequency of patrols in this area and have access to the site. We will Deal with youths making use of Its your Choice and Acceptable Behaviour Contracts.
